Hey guys, I have a big audition coming up next week and I’m losing my mind. Every time I get monitored or feedback from my trainers, they ALWAYS say the exact same thing: "You look so insecure" or "You lack confidence."
The thing is... I genuinely AM confident! In my head, I’m literally like 'I'm gonna crush this stage,' but I guess it’s just not translating to the outside? 😭 What am I doing wrong? Is it my eye contact, my posture, or what? If anyone knows how to actually look confident on camera when your inner vibe isn’t matching your outer vibe, please drop some tips. I’m desperate!!
I did a closed audition yesterday for the first time since my academy teacher changed! That specific cold and awkward vibe of the audition room never gets easier lmao. Still, my new teacher gave me so much support that I think I managed to show everything I prepared for both my vocal free song and dance 👍 A lot of people must be auditioning right now since it's closed audition season—is everyone managing their mental health okay? Waiting for results is making my heart explode
I just had a consultation with my academy coaches and we decided I should focus way more on vocals this summer! We used to do a 50/50 split between dance and vocal, so thankfully (?) I guess they see my dance as somewhat stable now. Of course, that also low-key means my vocals are tragically lacking... lol ㅠㅠㅠ Still, I'm taking this as a golden opportunity to fix my weaknesses and basically live in the recording studio for July and August! What kind of main goals did you guys set for your summer training? Let's share 🤍
Should I apply to multiple closed agency auditions if they all overlap in one month? ㅠㅠ Need advice!
Hey everyone, I’ve been overthinking a lot lately so I wanted to drop this here! This month, my academy is hosting a bunch of private closed auditions, plus there's a joint mega audition, and all the schedules are heavily overlapping ㅠㅠ
Is it always better to just shoot my shot and take as many auditions as possible when the opportunity comes? Or is it smarter to target just 1 or 2 specific companies, thoroughly analyze their concepts, and focus all my energy there? I am so conflicted 😭
Trying to prepare everything at once means all the assigned songs are different and I have a mountain of choreography to copy, so I'm terrified that the quality of everything will just drop... For the senior trainees or anyone who's been through this: how do you manage your schedule and mental health when auditions drop all at once? Please leave some real advice or share your experience 🙏 Help a sister out ㅠㅠ
The night before an audition, heavy skincare is a trap because it might cause breakouts. Stick to soothing pads or a simple hydrating sheet mask!! And to make your features pop on the camera test, managing facial swelling is literally life or death, rtf? 😭 What I do is apply a lightweight cream and use a 'Gua Sha' to massage my jawline, neck, and lymph nodes 💀🔥 Massaging with a tool vs. just hands makes a night-and-day difference when you look in the mirror the next morning!! Absolutely no salty or spicy food tonight. Let’s lock in with Gua Sha and soothing pads to be the main character tomorrow!! ✊⚡️
I made it to the 2nd round of an online audition and got a direct note from the recruitment team. They said my skills are stable but I lack "individuality."
I was so confused because I thought copying the original choreo perfectly was the goal. But I talked to a senior trainee, and she told me it means I look like a "robot." 🤖 They don't want a 100% perfect copy; they want to see your own style in the way u shrug your shoulders or how u look at the camera during a rest beat. Next time, I’m adding my own texture to the intro instead of just standing there.
I’m filling out an online audition form for a major label and I’m having a mini existential crisis over my height... My actual height is 164.8cm, but honestly, if I just write 165cm, nobody’s gonna notice, right? 😂 Dropping the decimal is basically a universal rule, but I'm such a overthinker that I’m scared they’ll use a laser measurement tool at the live audition and disqualify me if it doesn’t match 💀 To those who’ve been to live auditions, do they care about minor rounding up or am I just tripping?
I went to an in-person audition a while ago, and the staff member handling the audio accidentally played my dance track at 1.2x speed. 😭 I froze for a split second, but then pure survival instinct kicked in, and I just powered through the choreo at lightning speed. Later, an older trainee told me I should have confidently stopped and said, "Excuse me, I think there's an issue with the audio speed, can we restart?" Instead, I looked like a glitching robot. Total rookie mistake!
I spent six whole months perfecting a super dark, powerful, girl-crush hip-hop routine to show off my sharpest lines. But during the audition, the head scout looked at my face and said, "Your visuals lean more towards a soft, pure concept. Do you have a cute, bright girl group choreo you can show us right now?" 😭 I didn't prepare anything, so I had to wing a freestyle to an older song. Lesson learned: always prepare contrasting concepts because you never know what they'll ask for.
okay, let’s settle this lol. do big agencies (hybe, sm, yg, jyp) actually care more about your visuals or your raw talent?
i feel like some companies are obsessed with a specific "face" and will train u from scratch if u look the part. but then i see trainees who are literally vocal/dance gods and i’m like... maybe talent is the priority?
is it true that "visuals get u in the door, but talent keeps u there"? or are we just coping lol. i’m lowkey stressed because i feel like i’m a 7/10 in both but a 10/10 in neither. what do y'all think is the "golden ratio" for big 4 auditions? 😭
