I’m 18 this year, and honestly, I’m starting to feel ancient in the K-pop timeline.

Every time I go on TikTok, I see these 13 or 14-year-old trainees from Japan or China who can drop into a perfect split and sing high notes effortlessly. It makes me want to throw my ring light out the window. 🪟❌ How do u guys protect your mental health and stay confident when the industry feels like it only wants middle schoolers? Any older trainees (18-21) here still pushing forward? Let’s comfort each other.

I just realized why my vocal tapes weren’t getting passes. I was singing Korean lyrics with a heavy Western pop vocal style.

In Western pop, we open our throats wide and use a lot of chest voice. But Korean casting agents love that soft, slightly airy, and precise vowel placement. 💨 I started softening my 'ㄹ' and 'ㅇ' sounds and focused on making my voice sound more 'linear' rather than bouncy. The difference is INSANE. My tone suddenly sounds 10x more like a K-pop record. If u're struggling with your tone, check your pronunciation habits!

Okay, serious talk. Do you ever get hit with massive FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) when you look at your non-trainee friends’ Instagram stories?

Today my school friends went to a festival, took cute photobooth pics, and went to a cafe together. Meanwhile, I’ve been stuck in this sweaty basement studio for 8 hours, getting yelled at for my hip angles ㅋㅋㅋ I chose this idol path and I love performing more than anything, but sometimes the loneliness just hits different. It feels like I’m sacrificing my entire youth for a 'maybe' chance to debut. How do you guys cope when the trainee burnout kicks in? 💔

Looking at the recent debut lineups and casting notices from global entertainment companies, the age requirement is getting scary young. I’m an '07 liner, and I’m constantly stressing out that I’m going to get filtered out at Round 1 just because of my age. 😭 People tell me I’m still young, but the pressure feels so real when you see 14-year-olds debuting. I guess the only way to beat the age stigma is to have talent and star quality so undeniable that they literally cannot say no to you.

Okay, so passing Round 1 with visuals/vibe is one thing, but getting rejected at Round 2 over and over again is officially breaking my mental state.

I need some major advice from anyone who has actually passed Round 2. If the judges stop your music or stop recording halfway through, is it an automatic fail? Or is asking a lot of questions a good sign? Last time, they actually listened to my entire song until the very end, but I still got ghosted.

For those who made it to the next round, what was the vibe in the room like? Please share your secrets... I'm entering my villain arc and I’m ready to absolutely crush the next one. 😭🔥

I’ve been practicing the latest 5th gen songs for my vocal submission and realized half the tracks don't even require heavy Korean pronunciation anymore.

It’s mostly catchy English hooks with a bit of Korean flavor. 🎶 Part of me feels relieved because I won't get judged on my 'bad accent', but another part of me thinks the judges will expect HIGHER vocal delivery since it's in my native language. What do u guys think? Does this make the entry barrier lower for international girls?

I’m so frustrated right now. I always pass Round 1 with no problem (maybe it’s just the "visuals"? lol), but I keep getting ghosted after Round 2. ㅠㅠ Round 1 feels like a vibe check, but Round 2 is where the real war starts. Is it my song choice? Or am I just not "memorable" enough? How do you guys actually CAPTIVATE the judges in Round 2? I need that one "Killing Part" to make them obsessed. Please share your secrets before I lose my mind... let's get that debut for real! 😭💔

I just started wearing a smartwatch for my 8-hour practice sessions and the data is INSANE.

It tracks my heart rate during "ILLIT" choreo and tells me when I’m actually burning fat vs. just being tired. Also, it monitors my sleep—turns out my "4 hours of sleep" was actually ruining my vocal stability. If u're a serious trainee in 2026, u need to use Data to manage your body. What’s your average heart rate during a dance break? Let’s compare!

I just got a tip from a casting agent. In 2026, they don't watch the full 3-minute cover anymore.

If u don't catch their eye in the first 15 to 30 seconds, they swipe. 💨 So, stop doing long intros! Start with your most "Killing Part" or a high note. Think of your audition video as a "Trailer," not a movie. Has anyone changed their editing style lately? Does it actually get more views?

Have u guys noticed the new application forms? Some labels are asking what kind of "Virtual Concept" would suit us.

It’s like they’re planning to launch us as both humans and AI characters from the start. 🤖✨ I’m a bit worried—do I need to be "Lore-heavy" now? lol. If u could pick an avatar power or theme, what would it be? Is the future of K-pop just a big RPG game?
