Got some brutally honest feedback about my eye contact from my dance coach today π Real talk
We had our monthly evaluation choreo check today, and teacher told me that I spend the entire time staring at my own feet in the mirror γ γ They said looking down makes you look zero confident, and from the judges' perspective, they just see the top of your head, which kills your charm π Even during sharp head turns or spins, you need to maintain that intense eye contact like you're staring down the camera (judges) to show star quality. I was so busy memorizing the steps that I completely forgot about facial acting, but now I see why main character energy is everything. If anyone else struggles with eye contact, letβs stick a post-it note on the mirror and practice staring at it together!! βπ
Staring at your feet is a natural stage of absorbing new choreography, but transitioning your focus to a fixed point on the mirror is the exact logic-driven step needed to shift into professional screen awareness.
