A quick translation guide to Korean Twitter slang so you don't feel lost in the fandom

When I first joined K-pop Twitter, Google Translate made zero sense because fans were using heavily condensed slang terms. Here are 4 essential terms every international fan and trainee should know:

  • 덕통사고 (Deok-tong-sa-go): "Fan-traffic accident." Being hit unexpectedly by a sudden realization that you just fell in love with a new idol. 🚗💥
  • 입덕 (Ib-deok): "Entering the fandom door." The exact moment you become an official fan.🚪❤️
  • 입덕직캠 (Ib-deok FanCam): A legendary individual member performance video so good that it forces non-fans to join the fandom. 🎥🔥
  • 성덕 (Seong-deok): "Successful fan." A fan who eventually debuts and gets to meet their childhood idol! 👑✨

Knowing these terms helps you understand how fans react to audition clips and teasers!

My goal in life is to become a '성덕' and tell my bias that I listened to their music while practicing!
